The challenge

Reed in Partnership provides public services that change people’s lives for the better. They wanted to explore how they could use their existing assets and capabilities to develop new services and diversify their portfolio. Our brief was to identify and scope potential new opportunity areas.


The solution

We first worked with Reed in Partnership’s Board and Exec team to identify their ambition, boundaries and risk appetite. Through this and their existing assets and behaviour change expertise, we identified preventative healthcare as a relevant area for exploration. We then, through analysis and 18 expert interviews scoped out the market, needs, sources of funding and opportunities.

We landed on and fleshed out six opportunities for potential new services in the preventative healthcare space, one of which was around the potential for a JV around weight management.


The impact

  • JV formed with Discover Momenta to form Reed Momenta, now Reed Wellbeing

  • Secured big health contracts in weight management

  • 50 staff and £5m turnover p.a

  • Won one of the biggest national integrated health contracts
