The Challenge
Coming out of the pandemic, Mind targeted innovation as a key priority area of growth, particularly within their Fundraising team. Led by a new Head of Innovation, they needed a bespoke process to identify, develop and launch new ways to grow the mission and income, through both incremental improvements to existing income generating products, and launching new transformative products. Alongside this process, they also needed a set of shared innovation tools and templates to be used across the wider fundraising and commercial teams, that could be embedded into their everyday practices.
The Solution
We designed a tailor-made digital toolkit that could be accessed by anyone at Mind to learn about all steps of the innovation process, covering identifying briefs, gathering insight, ideation, experimentation and piloting. The toolkit included video introduction to each stage, top tips, key questions, and a set of tools and templates to use across teams.
Mind identified 20 ‘Innovation Champions' to become super-users of this toolkit, to champion and share innovation with the rest of the team. These champions were on-boarded through five hands-on, practical training days to apply each section of the toolkit to real-life briefs.
