The Challenge

Towards the end of 2020 we started working with Help For Heroes to uncover new income generating opportunities to help diversify their current income streams. Given the increasingly challenging environment for traditional fundraising, coupled with the pressures of the pandemic, it was vital for the long term sustainability of the charity that they found new ways to fund their work.

So our challenge was to "innovate to develop a more sustainable income model for the longer term. This will include innovation in fundraising products, such as regular giving and commercialising some of our knowledge and services."

The Solution

We can't say too much about this yet as it's not been launched to market. But in the meantime, we can share our journey with the charity the last 18 months:

  • identify their unique assets and capabilities which they can leverage for an unfair commercial advantage.

  • Develop a pipeline of 50+ new income generating ideas, ranging from quick wins through to bigger ticket, transformational ideas

  • We've taken 2 ideas forward to prototype, where we've tested the appeal in the real world to build the confidence in their potential

  • Most recently, we've taken 1 idea forward to the first working digital MVP which has been tested with real customers. And alongside that developed a pitch deck and financial model to help secure the investment internally to continue developing it.
